Elyse, in reality, is not purple. Nor was she purple this night, even though it was her birthday. I made her purple out of love and respect (for the color purple - the color, not the book, which I haven't read).

It's a shame that she ('she' being Elyse) felt the need to move to New York. But everything about Elyse said "East Coast."
